Here's a List of my most recent and future occupations related to design and more:
Issaquah School Disrict
Webmaster Internship, 2002
I got the opportunity and go a head for an internship in high school to develop a functional website for the Issaquah High School career center. I learned a lot and utilized the adobe software suite to set up the layout and produce the final result. This was 100 hours my senior year of hard work to create the final result.  You can check the results in my portfolio link above.
Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Issaquah, WA
Cafe Barista
(2002)-Part Time
In my very first jobs post high school I learned various skills and experience in retails and beyond. I took my first look in retails at Barnes and Noble as a café Barista.  I took the customers’ orders on a POS terminal, made the order and finally presented and thanked the customer in hope of them coming back. Even though I was there for only a few short months I got a big glimpse of what customer service entailed and steered me towards a future endeavor: This time with an interests in the products they sell!

Michaels Arts and Craft, Issaquah, WA
Framing Associate
(2003-2005)-Part Time
This was one of my first long term retail jobs I worked post high school. Working at Michaels was a huge difference from my past jobs I had worked up till this point. I chose this job because of my interests/passion for art and that it provided a skill in computers and craftwork in framing. I thought it would help me figure out what adzactly I was looking for in a career or job in the future. I learned the ins and outs of selling and putting together custom picture frames. I worked on a POS computer to ring up and sell the custom framing orders.  I also cleaned and faced the framing counter, the work shop, as well as the department.
I also stocked the standard sized frames on the floor and answered and gave advice to customer needs. I learned a lot about the different types of framing material and what “fits” with what in terms of aesthetic preference. There was a lot to know and considering in framing a piece of artwork or print; including the mat color, glass, and framing molding that held everything together like a sandwich as they would say it.  There also was upselling to consider when applicable to a framing order.
I gained great skills at Michaels that would eventually translate into my latter jobs.
I worked at Michaels for two years along side of going to school at BCC (Bellevue Community College) and soon got my opportunity to go to a University at WWU.  I learned a lot from going to Western but sadly this school wasn't for me. I came back to work in retail and was hired on at Lowe’s Home Improvement in 2005.
8/2005-Present: Cashier at Lowe's Home Improvement.
FULL-TIME
I started working at Lowe’s home improvement in August of 2005 as a Garden Loader. I had a lot of retail experience prior but soon realized this job was quite different. In the next ten years or so I learned the store well enough to develop the well renowned store maps many would come to admire and use throughout the Lowe’s store # 0140! I have worked throughout the years in many departments as a Cashier including the Front End, Customer Service, Returns, Garden, and soon my new role as Lumber Cashier. It was here in the lumber department where I learned the necessary skills in customer service that would guide me through the next few years to come.  I had to take on new responsibilities and help customers and employees alike.  I had to greet, direct customers to their needs and services, and finally ring up customers’ orders and get help when needed.
It took a great deal of time to learn and master the skills essential in doing the job.  The main thing I learned the most was to learn how to do things for myself: Learn myself. I found it the hardest to learn where things were (products) related to the aisles in the store.  That is what got me started on my next endeavor. The background I had from previous jobs related to art, technology, and schooling gave me a competitive edge in creating/ developing the maps that follow. For a step by step process about how I created the maps check out my portfolio gallery above.
There is another skill I picked up in the lumber department which I become known as the expert at. It is called CULL. To CULL lumber you must find the lumber in the department, which the lumber associate does, then you SORT the lumber based on type of wood, band the lumber packages based on size and weight, and band the assorted lumber with a tool used.  The final touches were creating a price tag, done on the computer, and spray paint the ends of the lumber to show that all CULL lumber were final sales-non refundable.
In the past year I left Lowe's Store #0140 in the pursuit of a new location. The location was Nampa Idaho. I left Washington for the first time with my entire family in august of 2021 to Nampa Idaho. This was a big change and a hard decision to make. Leaving my close friends, coworkers and my job all at once really took it out on me. I tried to do a transfer prior to moving but it was hard to find a job because I didn't know when and where I was really moving to. I applied everywhere and even tried and was denied unemployment at the time. I frantically applied for any jobs out there while I was still getting established and finding myself in a new area. I finally landed a job in Meridian close to Nampa off the freeway.
This didn't go as I planned but in a few short couple months I tried again. I applied and was hired as a Cashier at Michaels Arts and Crafts in Nampa. This still wasn't a good fit. I tried once again to reapply at Lowe's in Nampa and was finally interviewed and hired as a closing front end cashier at the Lowe's store #1785! Everyone was impressed by my Store Maps I created at my previous Lowe's and was welcomed to this new store. I am currently still there since February of 2022 and doing much better that I have a job I excel at. I am currently striving to become a better employee and seeking advancement. My ultimate goal right now is to become Cashier of the Month. In doing this I have to work extra hard at everything I do and ask from the customers there. I always ask for the survey. Today I actually got six surveys all by just asking and selling the heck out of the Employee Survey. I am confident I can get it. I am finally back on track and ready to commit myself to this job in the next few years to come.
